GD Goenka Public School, Sitapur, is an English medium, co-educational Senior Secondary School is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Using English as the medium of instruction, the entire establishment works only with the sole objective of providing wholesome education to a student.

For the tiny tots, the play-way method of teaching is adopted and individual attention is paid to make learning a pleasurable pursuit. The classes are theme-designed so as to provide learning by observation & doing; co-relating knowledge and its application. Wherever possible, an extensive use of audio-visual aids and practical demonstrations are also carried out to ensure learning is not a monotonous experience, but an enriching and interesting activity.

Class Room

Group learning has always a very good role in child’s life. Kids here lean together and are trained how to come in a team, how to adjust with different views. By this we guide the kids how to mingle around their peers. Kids learn and grow well. A child gets different views and option in the their classroom itself which widen their thought process. Here teachers compulsory have 5 mits for group discussion and class activity divided in the lesson plan.

Assessment

Reinforcement, Re-enrichment and Responsibility are the 3R’s of homework.
Homework is just a revision that is been taught in the school for the day. Homework is sent in various format as presentations, project work, activity based and learning base. GDGPS follows the HW pattern but not to stress the Parents and Students but we use this mode to convey a message what is been taught in school today and the concept are sent home for revision and activity. We always follow that HW should not be another teaching class at home rather a leaning class at home where it would help the parent to understand how attentative the child was in school and how effective the teacher was by the teacher.

WHAT IS ASSESSMENT?

Assessment is the systematic process of documenting and using empirical data to measure knowledge, skills, attitude and beliefs. By taking the assessment, teachers try to improve the student’s path towards learning.

Assessment helps us understand:

  • Where the learner is going?
  • Where the learner is right now? And
  • How to get there?

ASSESSMENT SYSTEM

The focus of the assessment is more towards preparation of the Board Exam. Practical examinations which form an important component are also a part of the test schedule. Each test is dependent of the other.

WEEKLYTESTS

Two rounds of weekly test sare conducted in the first term where as mall portion of the syllabus of each subject is tested. (Periodic)

SUBJECT ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES – HOLIDAY ENGAGEMENT

Enrichment activities are fun which helps a student to become more engaged in their learning and retain more information. Enrichment promotes critical thinking and problem-solving skills, improve students’ ability to concentrate and make learning more meaningful, valuable and rewarding.

MULTIPLE ASSESSMENT

Multiple assessment involves a variety of  tools and techniques for assessment such as oral questions, quizzes, projects, crossword puzzles, experiments, demonstrations, etc.

PORTFOLIO

Portfolio assessment is based on the systematic collection of learners work such as written assignments, regularity in work and presentations that represents competencies exemplary work.

PROJECT BASED LEARNING

Project based learning and activities are conducted in groups as well as individually to promote collaborative learning and introduced students to the working environment of today.

TERMEXAM

It is followed by the Term Exam which is based on more than half of the syllabus for the whole academicyear.

SPECIAL EDUCATOR/COUNSELLOR

Children with learning disability like dyslexia or ADHD or behavior’s problems are referred to the school counsel or who may advise further testing. Depending on the severity of the problem, the child is referred to the special educator who helps the child and advises the teachers on the way they can help the child. As per CBSE’s new policy.

CYCLIC WORKSHEETS

Class 1

Each child is assessed according to the level achieved in various skills and moves up according to his or her own abilities.

Evaluation includes worksheets, weekly fun-facts, weekly phonic dictations, reading (library book) recitation, listening and oral comprehension. Conversational skills, conceptual skills, show and tell, quizzes, games, activities, simple fun experiment, lab activities, based on their age milestones.

Class II

The child is assessed on the basis of weekly dictations, creative writing, reading (library book) recitation in both the languages Hindi and English. Understanding of grammar topics in both subjects is evaluated on the basis of worksheets, lab activities, quizzes, class work, activities etc. His/her knowledge of EVS topics is evaluated on the basis of general awareness, class discussions, projects, modules, activities and experiments. Mathematical assessment is done on the basis of clarity of concepts, computational skills, mental maths project and lab activities.

Leaves

We strongly feel the need for the children to attend the school regularly as each has its leaning and new concepts are taught. Minimum 85% attendance is mandatory. But we are proud of children as the absentee ratio is very low.

Before applying for the leave the Parents are asked the check the school calendar which is available in the school mobile app and in the website, to see if any important activity is happening for the day.
If really need of leave the parents can send the leave application through the mobile app.

The only absences approved by the school are:

  1. Verified illness
  2. Ongoing Medical Treatment
    For availing an early exit students / parents should submit the application through the mobile app.
    For the purpose of safety we permit only tow members from the family to take the child home only after having the admit permission card from the office which is issued at the time of admission.

For Pre-primary We, assess in a variety of ways throughout the year.
